Hi Cory –

It’s Suzy Que from Facebook.  I am hoping you can give me some advice.  I recently had my lawn redone.  The builder did a lousy job – left construction debris behind, no top soil – just laid sod that was not watered much before I arrived.  So it ended up becoming all weed.

The landscaper that redid it for me, killed the existing grass, aerated the land, and spread/fertilized seed – about 3 weeks ago.  He got held up due to the storms after killing the grass, leaving an empty lot for at least 2 weeks.  But grass is finally growing – I pray it will be a mild winter so it doesn’t totally freeze and die.

Anyway – with the land relatively empty and wet from me watering the seed regularly, it looks like I may have a critter or more.  I am seeing small holes – 1-2″ in diameter.  In one area it looked like there may have been a tunnel from the hole about 2-3 feet long.  As I see the holes (including the tunnel) I stamped them down.  I was told I probably have moles/voles.

I haven’t seen any critters, just the holes.  So I’m asking for your advice about what I should do – if anything….  I estimate about 75% of the seed has sprouted, about 1.5-2″ tall now.  Now my worry is I might end up with a bunch of tunnels everywhere, and then my yard will collapse, and I’ll have to redo it AGAIN!!!!!   I’m so frustrated.  I never had lawn/yard issues before – however, I know I lived in a much different climate……
